While influenced by the nearby Borough Park, the neighborhood adopted its own distinct spelling, contributing to its individual identity. Remnants of this historical narrative still linger in the memories of some Bensonhurst residents, recalling a time when parts of their neighborhood were referred to as "Marlboro."
